a. Targeting Civilians- they call it Kinetic events
b. Abductions/Disappearances- they call it Extraordinary Rendition
c. Torture- they call it 'Near Permissible interrogation'
all this double standards are for us smaller countries.. while they sponsor countries like Israel,Columbia,Turkey etc to continue with their aggression against civilians...while all this talk of ceasefire is nothing but an attempt to throw a life line at the LTTE, we have to really take stock of our real friends now!
as for Norway,when the Taliban almost killed their Foreign Minister and his team at a Kabul Hotel in 2008 , they didn't offer to go into talks with Taliban but instead increased their contribution to ISAF..
anyway, above pix i reproduce here as a reminder of how Western Countries wage wars against terror and preach us with protecting rights!

Well to follow your argument, we do actually do all these terrible things but since the 'West' also does it, it makes it ok in the land of the most pristine form of Buddhism.
We are very proud of the Buddhist heritage and preach Maithri and Ahimsa but practise something else. Does that also make us guilty of the same double standards?
By the way, Israel was attacking Palestinians, who are foreigners (to teh Israelis's at least) In this case is'nt it our own people who are being attacked?

And by the way, how do you know of Israel's atrocities in Gaza? Via the international media CNN, BBC , Al Jazeera etc etc. But when these same media report on things in Sri Lanka they have double standards no?
Bias is in the eye of the beholders. To make an unbiased judgement it takes an unbiased observer. Look to yourself before you look at others.

Are you telling that the Buddhists should practice Ahimsa when they are being butchered and slaughtered as if like dogs, when granades are exploded inside the vaginas after being gang-raped, when babies are pulled out from wombs and scores of them are hacked to death? Buddhism never preaches defeatism. Buddhist are intelligent enough to understand the diffrence between Ahimsa and fighting back for their survival and protect thir religion from extinction.If Buddhist had been shedding the compassions for those who made hundreds and one attempts to make them extincted from the face of this earth in the past, they would have never been survived thus far. Today what we are witnessing is, as in the past, their responce after being long silence. True to their religious values, they had been magnanimously accomadative for Tamils in Sri Lanka. That quality of Buddhists were taken for a ride by Tamil extemists.It's the LTTE terrorists who take cover behind the civilans and make them expose to SL's military assault. SL forces have been magnanimous enough to reserve their fire-power at the cost of thir own lives to protect the Tamil civilians knowing very well that they are fellow Sri Lankans.
It's the LTTE terrorists who butcher people including Tamils to create a mono-ethnic entity in SL while Tamils live peacefully among Buddhists in the rest of the country.
It's a shame to see the speed with which megamaniac Prabhkaran who had long been portrayed as military genious flee abandoning his scores of mansons. It's indeed a shame for a Sri Lankan as he was also born and bred in SL soil.
The monumental myth of the century as LTTE being invincible was shatered by SL forces. What has been happing in and around us is that most of the LTTE sympathizes such as INGOs, western countries and their lackies in SL can not digest that harsh truth. They reosort to all sort of stratigies to protect Prabhakaran."Bombing and killing Tamil people in their own country" is just one of these lies to propagate the Eelam cause.
