Graphic Journalism at its best- After 9/11: America's War on Terror (2001- )

Publishers Farrar, Straus, and Giroux have given Foreign Policy Magazine permission to post some excerpts from a new book  After 9/11: America's War on Terror (2001- ), by Sid Jacobson and Ernie Colón.
A self-described "work of graphic journalism" by the same guys who put together the visual adaptation of the 9/11 report, is a ex-Marval comic Artists  way of looking at what's happened over the past seven years.
I've re-posted couple of images that was posted on FP from the book, which shows the Bush administration shifting its focus from Afghanistan to Iraq.

i think this book is a must have...for those rich ones with an interest in Global Politics ...not me.. unless VYB offers it at cheap rate...also , let this be an inspiration for some one to start a project on the same lines on the Conflict in our country..

Upside down House- Germany

This house, in the town of Trassenheide on Germany's Baltic Sea island of Usedom, is appropriately named "The World Stands on its Head."

Its now open as a tourist attraction and serving as an inspiration to many ...

The only thing that's right-side up? the Stairs...

wonder how the Parliament in Sri Jayawardhanapura would look like...upside down.. but then.. people there act like its already upside down..

Interactive Defence Map of Sri Lanka (Northern Battle field)- by Cyber Lanka

Above is a screen shot of the Interactive Defence Map of Sri Lanka (Northern Battle field) crated and maintained by Cyber Lanka. I'm sure most of you may have seen this before but anyway just in case..

Map itself is a cool tool, not only its updated daily (based on public reports via Govt.web sites ) it also contains location specific captions on daily happening's and key incidents.

main feature of the map is, it depicts the troop movements and accordingly a great tool for all the Armchair Warlords,Peace Crusaders and citizens alike!

of course the warlords can go on and on talk about the disposition of Divisions and also strategy over long drinks on Friday and Saturday nights while the Flower Rd.based Civil Society Peace Crusaders can chart-out their next moves to pressure the IC to bring about ' forced peace' or scram 'peace now' 'no war ' etc, just so that they could take the heat off Mullativu.. while UNP (or rather..whats left of it..  ) and SLFP(M) gang can engage in their futile conspiracies to bring down MR.

either way.. Map is a good tool to understand the developments and all the rhetoric and analysis on both print and electronic media over Military Operations happening in the North.

Good work Cyber Lanka for crating and managing  this map. i think this map can be a model for discussing many other issues that we face today..of course that i leave out to the experts..

Burmese Lunch-heavenly in flavor

Met with my old mate Sao N., from Burma (now days Myanmar following ruling military Juntas' (not so) 'Auspicious' name change..) after many years of him going AWOL...

anyway..politics aside.. Sao ,native of Shan State of Burma cooked me a simple Shan noodle lunch..heavenly flavor prompted me to come up with this post...

home mad noodles are Rice floor based, topped with mashed Potato minced Beef and chilly paste (again home made) ,assorted greens Corriendar leaves with lime, a Mango Chutney and a Burmese hot Chilly Pickle with Fish Sauce and Peanut oil and then...ah..strips of crunchy deep fried dried Pig skin..

though the pix and the presentation is not as up to the standard as Pradeep Jeganathan in his blog  My Half Life..still ...!!!!
